The Playground displays works of art that were not created for clients, but were created as experiments, specific interests, hobbies, or solely for entertainment. Although these pieces were not created for clients, the designs are appealing and therefore should be displayed within the portfolio as well.

There are times when designers would like to showcase or experiment with a skill or technique, but the current project in production does not have a particular use for such a technique. In this case, the designer can then create a project specifically for the technique and then put the finished project on display.
